Books, books, and more books; can you tell I love them?
My favorite start to every summer season is....
1. Being done with classes (obviously!)
2. Actually getting to read for pleasure instead of drowning in your textbook assigned reading
Everytime I would go to the bookstore I would grab 3-4 books I liked and read them for the summer. But I blew threw them too fast and I had noticed I was reading about 20+ books every couple months. It's fun because I have a couple of girlfriends that love to read like me so we always exchange books and talk about them. So a couple of summers ago, I decided to make a summer book list. The list was compiled of books I wanted to read and books I had already read.
I don't really have a "type" when it comes to books I choose. I really just choose the novels that speak to me . But I really enjoy reading autobiographies, memoirs, mystery, and non-fiction books.
This is my 2014 summer book list - all of these books I HIGHLY recommend. Extremely captivating from start to finish.
In no particular order...
1. In The Water They Can't See You Cry - Amanda Beard
2. The Night She Disappeared - April Henry
3. 17 & Gone - Nova Ren Suma
4. Sold - Patricia McCormick
5. Sharp Objects - Gillian Flynn
6. The Cuckoos Calling - Robert Galbrath
7. Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs
8. The Girl That Was Supposed To Die - April Henry
9. The Fault In Our Stars - John Green
10. Across The Street From Hell - Mark Hall
11. Dark Places - Gillian Flynn
12. Brain on Fire - Susannah Calahan
13. Hello, He Lied - Lynda Obst
14. Looking for Alaska - John Green
15. Paper Towns - John Green
16. The Cellar - Natasha Preston
17. Killer Instinct - SE Hinton
18. We Don't Die - Sandra Champlan
19. Tuesdays with Morrie - Mitch Albom
20. Crank - Ellen Hopkins (for the 3rd time)
21. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
I would have to say my breakout author for last summer would have to be John Green. I read 4 of his books and each one was better than the next.
Two of his books Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns are now movies you can see in theaters. Warning - Fault in Our Stars is a HEAVY tear jerker, but a great story.

I currently have 3 mystery books - I just bought yesterday that will be the first reads on my 2015 summer book list. They are...
1. Every Secret Thing - Laura Lippman
2. The Stranger You Know - Jane Casey
3. Watching You - Michael Robothman

I am always open for new suggestions - I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Happy reading!
Xoxo,
A Guy's Girl
