Happy Mother's Day to all the awesome mommys out there in this world!
You all do so much for us and it's only fair you get a day to be recognized even though you should get like a year or 2 or forever!
Since it’s my Mom's and I 23rd Mother’s Day together, I thought I would share 23 life lessons she has taught me thus far in life….
1. Things are not always as bad as they may seem
There is always someone out there who has it worse than you.
2. Karma does exist
Your actions matter, so choose accordingly. Always.
3. Treat others the way you want to be treated
Stop living for the moment and think things through before you act. You have no idea what others may be going through, keep them in mind.
4. You are not the smartest in the room
It is important to keep an open mind in everything that you do so you can continue to grow and prosper.
5. Treat elders with respect – always
You may think you know it all because you’re a smart 20-yr old but you do not. Listen to your wise elders; they have been there done that.
6. Help those in your path
There is always going to be someone that has it worse off than you. It is important to reach out to those who need our help.
7. Patience and perseverance pays off
Keep your eyes on the prize and one day you’ll reach that prize. Walking seemed out of my reach but my mom’s patience helped me keep mine.
8. Stick up for what you believe in
Don’t do what everyone else is doing to fit in. I never understood this until my injury made me feel different and I could no longer do what my young peers were doing. It was okay though because I was ME. Being different rocks, embrace it.
9. Don’t be afraid to stay true to yourself
There is only one you in the entire world, we were born to stand out not be the same as anyone else.
10. Find something good in every day
There is millions living in countries without clean water and food. We have it good, so well. Find good in everything.
11. Life is too short for pity parties – learn to forgive
It’s natural to be upset when things don’t go your way, but don’t wallow too long.
12. Be on time if your not early then you’re late
It is courteous to be on time. Strive for it always.
13. Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Never thought I would be able to live a happy life after an almost near-death experience. But I have never been happier.
14. Believe in miracles
They happen everyday all around us. Keep the faith.
15. Envy is a waste of life – the people that realize they have all they need are the happiest
The people who are rich in happiness are rich in life.
16. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is how much you loved
Love is the only thing that matters at the end of the day. Love hard and don’t be ashamed to tell the ones you care about how much you love them.
17. Change is constant – never wallow give time, time
You may be miserable today, but you may win the lottery tomorrow. You ever know what kind of curveball life is going to throw you but you know everyday is going to be different than the rest.
18. Never, never, never give up
Always believe in yourself and your dreams.
19. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
Seek happiness within yourself and you will be happy in every aspect of life.
20. Shoot for the stars - no dream is ever too big or too small
Never let someone define your dreams, if you want it go get it.
21. Do what you love and love what you do
Find passion for what you do and you will always be content
22. Family is the most precious gift you’ll ever receive
Thick and thin, they are your best friends and your biggest supporters no matter what.
23. When you start to feel alone in life, even though he cannot be seen, God always walks next to you and picks you up when you need him.
He is the most important relationship in your life.
Lastly, the always taught me the best is yet to come.
So thank you for 23 incredible life lessons you’ve taught me. Your strength, wisdom, and beauty shine brightly from the inside out.
Love you Mom,
Natalie
