How To Be Productive All The Time

Time, one small word that plays a huge role in our lives.
Whenever you are somewhere you don't want to be, you wish that time would go faster. Whenever you are out having a great time with your friends you wish time would slow down so you could seize the moment a little bit more. I think it's a normal human reaction to wish time to go by in boring situations. So lately, I've been trying to take a different outlook on time management. Because I always feel like I wish I had more time to do certain things.
In the past couple weeks, I have had whirlwinds of emotions. First because school has starting to really get into the nitty-gritty stressfull part of the semester. I try to take a good amount of time for my studies but of course it's so easily to get sidetracked especially staring at your laptop for awhile. Trying to make time to see my friends and spend time with them. On top of wondering am I being a good Christian? Am I being a good sister to Kendall? Am I making my parents proud? Am I making my boyfriend happy? At night, sometimes it keeps me up wondering if I'm doing everything I should be doing at my age. That internal time-clock we keep is a nagging feeling that weighs heavy on you sometimes. You see people you went to high school with getting married, having babies, etc and you wonder am I behind in life?
The answer is no. You are exactly where YOU should be in your life. When you spend time comparing yourself to other people's lives you are wasting valuable time in your life. Special time you need to find yourself which is the most important thing.
I think to stay productive all the time it's important to make time for just yourself. It is so easy to get stressed out with your education, health issues, drama with roommates/friends, and maybe problems within your family. Everyone has some kind of conflict happening in their life that may be taking a considerable amount of time in their life, whether it be a good use of your time or maybe bad. It's so important to assess how much time of your's this conflict is taking out of your life. You'd be surprised how heavy spending your time on negative issues take out of you. For example, when you have a bad day, you are less likely to go hang out with friends or take a walk on the boardwalk or get motivated on your internship search. You are more likely to crawl up in your bed and binge watch Netflix (which is totally fine!) every once in awhile but just making sure you are concsious how much time you are spending behind your laptop.
Another important thing to remember to work on staying productive is time management. When I was younger, I could really go about my days with my time laid out for me. I had school then softball practice then I'd workout more. Sometimes, I'd find myself so stressed out and not knowing why. But now I can see I was doing a lot and never had any time to unwind. To know when you need to unwind is SO important in your life. It is so unhealthy to work 24/7 you need to have time to relax and everyone's idea of relaxing is different. And that's okay! The most important thing is that you are taking some time to yourself. You matter! It's time you start treating your mind and body like that.
Since being in college, I have learned so much with time management. I have learned I'll never know what day street sweeping is. I know cramming for tests never leads for better grades for me. I know I couldn't live without writting EVERYTHING down, to-do lists are amazing, and writing my goals are an awesome reminder of what I'm working towards.
One of the biggest things to help you stay productive is to find a way to stay competitive in your life. Since I have been at USC, there are so many smart people. Like everyone is a low-key genius. It's overwhelming but it's exciting. They spark you with new ideas and they really help you better yourself if you decide to see it like that.
I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite quotes...
"Be the change you want to see in the world"
Stay productive and go kick your day's a$%!
