Success, one little word that has the biggest meaning to us.
Did you ever meet someone when you were younger that you looked at thinking dang I want to be them? I know I did. Those people Iooked up to were always inspirations for me to do better and be better myself.
But hard work is definitely easier said than done.
So fast forward 6 years to present day and I'm sitting in my 6-9 PM class and I am exhausted. My professor is lecturing and she's kinda on a ramble where she is starting to lose my attention until she asks the class a question. The question is, "what do you think is the key to maintaining success in life?" Many of my classmates had the same answer...
"Maintaining success comes from having a lot of money, making a lot of money"
There was a lot of other answers too but they all were mostly around the same answer, all referring back to making money.
She then told us we were thinking too hard and the answer was quite easy.
The secret of maintaining success is being able to get a long well with others. If you can maintain good relationships with your family, friends, significant other, and etc you will be able to achieve success in whatever direction you choose to go.
I think so many people forget that today. It is extremely easy to become selfish from being only concerned about yourself and your needs that you forget about nurturing good relationships with others. It surprises me that people wonder why they are always failing in relationships and why things are never working out for them in their favor. It's because they are only getting what they put in which isn't a lot of effort.
In school, being able to communicate well with your teachers so you can excell in all your classes is so important. If you cannot establish and meet your goals in your classes you won't be able to succeed.
In your internships, go the extra mile for your boss. Make yourself stand out! News flash: you will NOT always be right. So stop acting like you know everything. Start developing these relationships with people that you respect if you want them to respect you right back.
In your workplace, if you are able to work well in a team setting and be a team player you are golden. It is so important to be able to take criticism well and help it better yourself. Instead of getting easily offended by the individual trying to help you.
In your personal life, beng able to get a long well with your friends is the only way a relationship is able to work. It takes efforts from both parties. More than you think.
So wherever you go start taking the time to develop relationships with people and you wil see a difference in how much you are achieving. I think you'll be suprised how much easier life gets when you aren't trying to fight everyone on everything. Life goes so much smoother when you get along with others, and are willing to go the extra mile for someone just because it's the right thing to do.
So swallow your pride and start developing and nurturing your relationships. You'll be happy you did. I am positive you will see a difference in your life when you do.
I hope 2015 brings you nothing but joy in all the relationships you are in.
Xoxo,
A Guy's Girl
