Tis The Season To Pay It Forward

It's the most wonderful time of the year to give back.

While life gets the best of us and leaves us extremely busy throughout the year that when Christmas comes around we are so overhelmed with trying we please everyone. That we forget about the little but important people who played a role in helping us get to where we are today. And also helping the people in our path that truly need our help this holiday season.

During Christmas time, it's easy to get overwhelmed and have these thoughts...

"I need to get presents"

"I have no money"

"I don't know what to get my significant other"

"I'm so stressed out"

Growing up, it was always fun to open presents on Christmas. It was absolutely something to look forward to. But as I've gotten older, it's become crystal clear that Christmas isn't about giving or receiving presents.

Christmas is a season of great joy. It is a time of God showing his great love for us. It can be a time of healing and renewed strength. Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. God sent his son, Jesus, into the world to be born and it brought great joy to the world.

So this season, bring great joy to people you care about through love and devotion. It's okay if you do not have the money to buy fancy jewerly, write a letter expressing how much you care about the person. Sweet words go a long long way.

Also, bring joy to people you don't know. A stated in an earlier blog post, I am a firm believer in karma. Yeah, maybe you don't have the money for a diamond necklace, but someone out there in the world doesn't have money for food. So be the helping hand this season that someone so desperately needs. Before you eat your huge Christmas dinner, donate food to people who will have hungry bellies on Christmas.

As stated earlier, it was always magical waking up on Christmas morning and opening gifts with your family. Imagine if you didn't have the means to do that? Maybe this year instead of buying gifts in excess, you can give your old toys and donate new ones to toy drives and help those families who cannot afford to buy their children those presents.

Lastly, bring joy through random acts of kindness towards others. Whether it is simply opening a door, buying a coffee for the stranger behind you in the drive thru, or bringing someone Christmas cookies. A little bit of kindness goes a long way.

We truly will never know what tomorrow, next week, or next Christmas will bring us. So I hope this Christmas season you touch as many lives as you can through spreading love and bringing joy to everyone you come in contact with.

I hope your Christmas is as special as you.

Xoxo,

A Guy's Girl
